Getting there

Portland Roads lies on the east coast of Cape York, 800 kilometers by road from Cairns (10 - 12 hours by 4WD).

You can get to Portland Roads by flying, driving or sailing.

Your time at Portland Roads Beach Shack is a special experience, which relies on you being self-sufficient and planning your holiday in advance.

It takes approx 10 to 12 hours to drive to Lockhart River from Cairns. A 4WD is highly recommended. Driving is recommended during the Dry Season, from April to December.
